Canadian Summer Beachside Seafood Boil

For the last 10 years I have hosted a family reunion
with the happiness of my Grandchildren as the focus.
My heart is full when I see all
the cousins together!

I even wrote a book about our gatherings!
See it here.

This year our theme was 'Ocean'.
So naturally I wanted to serve
a fresh seafood boil cooked outside
on an open fire with the sound of
Georgian Bay waves in the background.

We had many colourful sides too.

The kids were so interested in the process
of boiling all the food together.

Here is the RECIPE we used.

NEW Children's Book by Patti Friday 'Bubbyland'

What if Cousins were able to have a yearly party together to celebrate their love and friendship? What if the gathering was organized by their Grandmother and it had different and fun themes each year?

Sterling Silver Flatware Photographs Patti Friday

I've wanted to photograph my Grandmother's
set of flatware for a long time!
Today I had the chance.

When editing your home or clearing out a loved one’s belongings—through Swedish death cleaning, Marie Kondo’s method, or donating—it’s often hard to part with sentimental items. Instead of keeping everything, consider photographing your keepsakes and collectibles. A picture preserves the memory without the clutter. This simple act honors the emotional value while creating a meaningful archive, allowing you to let go without truly losing the stories tied to each object.

Now that I've documented them
I think a few would be so nice
framed for a kitchen or dining room.

I love the above 3 pieces.
Serving fork.
Butter knife.
Cake/Pie server.

My Mom spoon fed ALL
the babies of the family
with these wee spoons.

Some pieces are tarnished more than others.

All beautiful and meaningful.

So many memories.

Do you collect silver?
