NEW Children's Book 'Bakery Bop' by Patti Friday

When the lights go out and the bakery door clicks shut, something magical begins…

Welcome to A.I. Cakes—that’s Absolutely Incredible Cakes—a famous little bakery in a small Ontario town. By day, it’s full of hungry customers and the sweet scent of frosting. But at night? Oh, that’s when the real fun begins!

As the moon rises, cakes come alive—leaping from their display cases and twirling onto the checkered floor. Under the sparkle of a disco ball and flashing spotlights, cupcakes, cheesecakes, Black Forest slices, and more turn the bakery into a wild, whirling ballroom.

Meet this zany gang of frosted, flaky, fabulous treats as they dance the night away doing the waltz, foxtrot, jive and Cha-Cha!

Full of energy, giggles, and sugary sparkle, Bakery Bop is a quirky, delicious romp for early readers—where bedtime means party time, and cake crumbs tell the story.

Studio House Barrie Dance Centre

Updated:  There is now a Go Fund Me for Studio House Barrie. Please give if you can here.

Studio House Barrie Dance Centre is more than just a place to learn dance; it's a sanctuary where individuals from diverse backgrounds converge, transcending differences to form a tight-knit community. Regardless of age, size, or ability, everyone who walks through its doors finds solace in the rhythm and movement, leaving behind their worries, struggles, and challenges.

Within the vibrant walls of the dance center, there exists a palpable sense of belonging—a feeling that extends to each and every person who steps onto the dance floor. Here, differences are celebrated, and unity is embraced, fostering an environment where individuals can express themselves freely without judgment.

From the graceful steps of ballet to the pulsating beats of hip-hop, Studio House Barrie Dance Centre offers a myriad of dance styles, catering to diverse tastes and preferences. It's a place where passion meets purpose, where dreams are nurtured, and where friendships are forged through shared experiences on the dance floor.

In this welcoming haven, barriers dissolve, and connections flourish, creating a tapestry of inclusivity and acceptance. Whether novice or seasoned dancer, all are encouraged to explore their potential, unleash their creativity, and embark on a journey of self-discovery.

Studio House Barrie Dance Centre isn't just a studio—it's a home where individuals find not only their rhythm but also a sense of belonging that resonates deeply within their hearts.

Studio House is not just a studio, but a community. And yes, we know how cheesy that sounds, but I wouldn't know how else to explain it. The world can be cruel, and having a safe space to be exactly who you are, while being cheered on and inspired by so many others, feels like the greatest thing in the world.

We are an 18+ multipurpose studio that offers stilettos, movement such as contemporary, hip hop, jazz, and ballet, photography, confidence building and so much more!

Margaret Atwood National Arts Centre #CanadaPerforms

#CanadaPerforms is a short-term relief fund that pays Canadian artists and authors for their online performances. It was launched by Facebook Canada and the National Arts Centre to help ease the financial strain for Canadian artists and authors impacted by the closure of performance venues and literary events across Canada related to COVID-19, and to lift the spirits of Canadians during the crisis. Artists and authors who are selected will receive $1,000 and their online performance and events will be announced and listed on the NAC’s Facebook page.
The $700,000 fund is made possible through the generous contribution from #CanadaPerforms’ founding partner, Facebook Canada ($200,000), and also the financial and ongoing support from Slaight Music ($100,000), RBC Foundation ($200,000) and SiriusXM Canada ($200,000).
“The arts have an enduring power to comfort, to inspire, to lift our spirits. Equally, artists thrive on their relationship with audiences. In this challenging time, artists and audiences, indeed all of us, need each other more than ever.”NAC President and CEO Christopher Deacon

Canada's Best Outdoor Blues Rock Soul Music Event: Etwell Concert Series in Muskoka, Ontario - Cultural and Culinary Tourism

UPDATED June 2022

Beyond the lush forests and sparkling rivers, ponds and lakes;  there are country roads near Huntsville, Ontario that will lead you deep into the woods to a magical hidden place.
A place for musicians and music lovers.

I was lucky enough to experience this 'best kept secret' for a
Crowbar (Oh What a Feeling...What a rush) concert.

After being at this Muskoka pavilion I can't decide what the key highlight is:
the sense of community, family atmosphere, live music or the legendary pizza!

Etwell Concert Series features live music at an outdoor venue near Huntsville, Muskoka. Most shows are hosted by the Spring family (Bill, Jeanine, and Tobin) at their home on the Etwell Road.

The venue is a remote, private location in a country setting with an open pavilion to provide shelter from the elements. (Power outages do not affect whether their shows go on. They have a generator)

This family event mostly takes place June through October on most Sundays, 3 - 6 pm (with occasional weeknight shows). Fall and winter shows will be held at indoor venues in Huntsville.

Chairs and benches are provided and all shows are rain or shine. But you are welcome to bring your own as well.

Admission is a suggested $20 donation per person for the outdoor concerts, with proceeds going to the artists. Donations can be made on site. Children are welcome at our outdoor concerts and admitted free of charge.

Etwell Concert Series artists are internationally acclaimed musicians, including Juno-award-nominees and winners, as well as Maple Blues Awards nominees and winners. Our opening acts are often local musicians

They have merch!
Hats and Apparel

Clean and Charming bathroom facilities

Lovely gardens surround the venue.

During the opening act you can smell the wood burning
in the massive outdoor stone pizza oven.

Then the
"Mistresses of Deliciousness"
work their culinary magic
to make the
LEGENDARY
Pizza!

Side Note:
One of the 'Mistresses of Deliciousness'
was wearing a Tentree Festival Hat!

(Stylish and chic for both intimate performances or outdoor concerts.
Their Festival hats are made from 100% recycled wool,
so you can rock out in sustainable fashion. Order here.)

La La Land Behind the Scenes

Here's to the ones who dream
Foolish as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that ache
Here's to the mess we make

She told me:
"A bit of madness is key
To give us new colors to see
Who knows where it will lead us?
And that's why they need us"

So bring on the rebels
The ripples from pebbles
The painters, and poets, and plays

And here's to the fools who dream
Crazy as they may seem
Here's to the hearts that break
Here's to the mess we make
