Canada: Faster Immigration

If you are a temporary foreign worker or a foreign student who graduated in Canada***, you often have the qualities to make a successful transition from temporary to permanent residence. You are familiar with Canadian society and can contribute to the Canadian economy. You should have knowledge of English or French and qualifying work experience.  Applying to stay in Canada permanently in your case is simple. You can do so under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Canada plans to admit 240,000 to 265,000 new permanent residents in 2013 – the same annual target range it has set for immigration since 2007.
However, Kenney is expanding the number of admissions under the Canadian Experience Class, which aims to recruit and retain international students who have studied and graduated in Canada as well as temporary foreign workers who speak one of Canada's official languages and already have Canadian work experience.
Up to 10,000 permanent residents will be accepted next year in the Canada Experience Class, up from 7,000 in 2012 and 2,500 in 2009.

***We do not allow barbaric cultural practices in Canada. Honor killings, violence against women, forced marriage etc. It will be punished with the full force of the law. - Patti Friday
If you can come in and positively contribute to the Canadian economy 'quickly' your immigration will be fast-tracked with the CEC program. 10,000 for 2013!

I've just come across your blog and by accident. I am moved to comment by your post though I admit I know nothing about you or your blog. I am responding solely to the above post. Immigrants do not need to be told that you, a self-proclaimed "civilized" Canadian do not allow "barbaric" practices in "your" country. Ask that to the natives who were and continue to be decimated here. Tell that to the vast majority of rape victims whose cases never see the light of day and if they do, see their rapist a get slap on the wrist. Do you know that over 1 in 4 Canadian women will face domestic violence in the course of their life? That is 1 in 4 of your civilized (I will read "white" here as that's what you imply, intentionally or not) friends. That's not "barbaric" to you? Certainly, violence against women does exist in every culture including immigrant cultures. "Honour killings" are horrific but so is rape and so is wife beating and child abuse. In fact, honour crime is a culturally specific manifestation of violence against women. Nothing more or less. To term one barbaric and not the other just reiterates old racist colonialist tropes. I hope you read a history book or two and try to begin to understand where the language you use comes from. No immigrant needs to take instruction from you. If there are here it is because they are valued and have the right to be. They bring valuable skills, money and resources and contribute to society, often more than native born Canadians in terms of taxes paid, people employed etc. I say all of the above as a woman who has spend all of my adult life working with women and children fleeing gender violence. Your post is uninformed and ignorant, though it's clear that you believe you are carrying out a public service.

Thank you for your comment. I myself have suffered violence. I love people of all nations and countries and my family were immigrants. My country was, is and will be built and improved with immigrants. I also respect and adore all religions. Please take a moment to learn who I am at my core. Again, thank you for reading my blog.

Hello Patti!

The only thing I really wanted to say here is this: while reading your post, I in NO way thought you implied "white" in any way or form here.

That is all!
