PEPPERMINT HOT COCOA

Is it really the holiday season without some warm, festive drinks to hold in our hands?! This is a recipe that kids and adults alike will love!!

Ingredients:

4 cups unsweetened almond, dairy, or other milk of your choice
8 TBSP unsweetened cocoa
1 TSP vanilla extract
4 teaspoons honey, or more to taste
4 drops Peppermint vitality essential oil
Optional: Add some strong coffee or espresso to turn this into a tasty peppermint mocha!

Instructions:

Heat 4 cups of milk in a saucepan on medium-high heat
Add 8 TBSP of unsweetened raw cocoa, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 4 tsp honey; whisk until smooth.
When warm, remove from heat and stir in 4 drops Peppermint vitality essential oil.
Serve and enjoy! Serves four!

Who’s making some peppermint hot chocolate?!?!?

HOMEMADE EGG NOG

This is one of my favorite holiday treats!! I look forward to some egg nog each and every season! It is so flavorful, and that delicious hint of nutmeg just makes me swoon! And you can make from scratch incorporating your essential oils!

Ingredients:
6 large eggs
1 cup sugar
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
6 drops Nutmeg vitality
optional: ½ cup to 1 ½ cup bourbon, rum, or cognac

Instructions:

1. Separate the eggs, placing the yolks in one bowl and the whites in another. Cover the whites and refrigerate until needed (or freeze if aging the eggnog for longer than a day).
2. Whisk the yolks with the sugar: combine the yolks and the sugar in a medium mixing bowl. Whisk by hand, or with a mixer, until the mixture is smooth and creamy, and it has lightened to a lemon-yellow color.
3. Whisk in the milk, cream, and liquor (if using): pour the milk, cream, nutmeg vitality, and liquor into the bowl with the egg mixture and whisk until combined.
4. Cover and refrigerate: cover the bowl and chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour. The more liquor you add, the longer it will keep—non-alcoholic eggnog should be consumed within a day. Eggnog with liquor will last up to a week.
5. Whisk the egg whites: just before serving, whisk the reserved egg whites in a stand mixer or with a hand mixer at high speed until the whites form stiff peaks.
6. Fold the egg whites into the eggnog: transfer the beaten egg whites to the bowl with the eggnog and gently fold or stir the whites into the base—this gives the eggnog a frothy, extra-creamy texture. Some of the egg whites will also float to the top, like a cappuccino foam.
7. Serve the eggnog: transfer the eggnog to a pitcher or punch bowl. Serve in individual glasses. Optional: grate additional nutmeg over the top.

Serves six! It is festive and fun sure to be a delight for yourself and any guest

WINTER WASSAIL

Sharing a steaming cup of wassail with friends and family is a great way to celebrate the holiday season. This festive beverage can be made even better with the inclusion of the delicious flavors of Clove, Cinnamon Bark, and Tangerine essential oils! Try and make this essential-oil infused recipe to set the mood for any holiday season.

Ingredients:

6 cups Apple Cider/Apple Juice
2 cups Pineapple Juice
5 drops Clove Vitality essential oil
5 drops Cinnamon Bark Vitality essential oil
5 drops Tangerine Vitality essential oil

Optional ingredients:

(try one or a mixture of any of the below)

4 TBSP dried wolfberries
1-2 Slique Tea bags
2 oz. Ningxia Red
2 drops Ginger Vitality essential oil
2 drops Nutmeg Vitality essential oil

Directions:

Add all ingredients to a 3-quart pot. Turn stove to medium/high and heat until hot. Serve and enjoy!

For added benefit, set the pot to simmer to keep your home smelling festive throughout the day. You may need to add 1-2 drops of additional oils if the mixture stays on the burner for many hours—as you are essentially diffusing these ingredients into the air.

I love drinking wassail during the holiday season! It is so festive and so tasty!!

Do you think you’ll try it?!

3. Pour mixture over reserved chopped chocolate. Let stand 1-2 minutes, and then stir gently until completely melted and smooth.

Have you seen the new holiday catalog yet?! What did you order?!

SPICE ORANGE GARLAND

This is one of my favorite things to do every year—make a holiday garland from dried oranges (and you can use other citrus fruits as well!) infused with essential oils! Not only does it look so beautiful and festive, but it smells amazing! And it is so easy to make!!

Slice a few oranges about ¼ to ½ inch in thickness. Arrange them on a non-stick surface or parchment paper. Pour 2-3 drops of essential oils on each orange slice (I love to do thieves, clove, or cinnamon bark!) Set them in a cool oven and turn the temperature onto the lowest setting your oven will allow. Leave the slices in the oven for about 5 hours, then shut the oven off and leave the oranges in there overnight or until completely cool. They will be fairly dry, but will continue to dry out over time. You don’t want to over dry them in the oven cause they can start to burn!

Once they are dry, string them with some twine, and hang them in your home for some holiday cheer

PEPPERMINT PLAY DOUGH

Here’s a fun way to get in the holiday spirit and have some fun with the kids!! Make some peppermint play dough!!!

Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 cups water
2 TBSP oil
4 TSP cream of tartar
Canned beets or red food coloring
Peppermint essential oil

Put all of these ingredients except the peppermint oil in a medium saucepan and stir constantly until the dough begins to pull away from the sides of the pan (about ten minutes).

Divide the dough in half, using either the juice from the canned beets or red food coloring to color half the dough. I love to leave the other dough the natural color, and it looks like a candy cane!! Of course, you can always use additional colors to get the desired results. Add in four drops of peppermint into dough half and work it through!! Smells so good as the kid’s play!

Some other fun options for play dough: Christmas spirit, Thieves, Orange

Who is going to make some play dough?!?!

SCENTED PINE CONES

This is a fun activity to do with your kids, or on your own to bring some festive cheer to your home! Go out and gather some pine cones. Make sure they are clean before laying them on a foil lined baking sheet. Bake at 200 degrees F in oven for 30 minutes. Wait for them to cool and transfer to a gallon sized Ziploc bag. Add about 30 drops of your favorite essential oils and leave bag sealed for 1-2 weeks. The longer you wait, the stronger the smell. Place out just in time for your holiday celebrations!!

OIL INFUSED ORNAMENTS

There is nothing so fun as creating some fun holiday traditions that can get the whole family involved!! Here is an awesome DIY tutorial on making your own ornaments infused with your favorite essential oils!!

Here are the supplies you need:

+ Terra-cotta air dry clay (you can get it at any craft store, or on amazon!)
+ Parchment paper
+ Rolling pin
+ Holiday cookie cutters
+ Stamps for ceramics or clay
+ Bamboo skewer
+ Ribbon, twine, or other decorative string
+ Essential oils of your choice—Christmas Spirit, Cinnamon Bark, Frankincense, Pine, Clove, and Orange are great holiday oils!

Instructions:

Spread out a length of the parchment paper
Roll the clay out until you’re satisfied with the thickness: we recommend 1/3 inch or thicker.
Cut the clay with cookie cutters
Use stamps to make designs and oil wells in the ornaments
Use the skewer to carefully poke holes through the ornaments to thread ribbon for hanging.
Let the ornaments air dry for 48 hours.
Thread the ribbon through the hole, and add essential oil to the wells and allow it to soak in, and then hang!

Festive, fun, and smells so good!!! Do you like to make your own ornaments?!

EVERGREEN BATH SOAK

Let’s be real—the holidays can be a stressful time of year. There always seems to be more to do, and sometimes we can use a bit of a break! What better than a bath? Soaking in the hot water with some Epsom salts and essential oils?!

SIGN ME UP!

You have to try this evergreen bath soak! Yes, it smells amazing and will make both you and your bathroom smell so festive! But these oils are also emotionally uplifting and soothing to tired and sore muscles.

Add the drops directly to the salts, give the salts a little stir, and then mix into bath water!

Smells so dreamy and feels so good!!!

What are some of your favorite bath soak combinations?!
