We’re super excited to have you follow along with us today/tonight. So we’re just going to dive right in and start talking about some of our favorite oils for sleep support!

CLASS NOTE:  Essential oils/product selections and availability will vary from country to country.

LAVENDER

Lavender!
This is an oil that many go to when they think about sleep, and with good reason!
It is so lovely and calming, and is such a great oil to use for sleep support!
+Diffuse it at night,
+apply to the bottoms of your feet
+take an Epsom salt bath with lavender oil before bed—so many ways to use this oil to promote quality sleep!

In a recent September 2017 @marieclairemag article, dancer and actress @jennadewan shares that adding epsom salts and Young Living Essential Oils to her bath at night helps her "zen out."

What are your favorite ways to use Lavender?!

CEDARWOOD

Cedarwood has a sweet, woodsy scent, and is one of my favorite oils to use at night! Its warm smell is so soothing and calming, which makes it a great oil to add to your sleep routine! Massage into the skin before bed or diffuse for its calming properties. Some say they even notice having more vivid dreams when they use this oil at night!

ORANGE

This might be a surprising oil to use in your bedtime routine, but we absolutely love it! This oil promotes peace and harmony, which are all things that can promote better sleep. You can diffuse it or use it topically. I love to add it to my sleepy time roller blends, or to diffuse it with Cedarwood! That combo together is so dreamy!

GENTLE BABY

This is an oil that invites a sense of calming for both kiddos and adults alike! It is a blend of some of the dreamiest oils, including rose, lavender, lemon, roman chamomile, geranium, ylang ylang, jasmine and palmarosa. That is pretty much pure magic in a bottle!

I love to diffuse this oil at night, especially with lavender. One whiff from the bottle always gives me the warm fuzzies. When I really feel like I need some extra support when it comes to calming down, I’ll put some on my wrists and the bottoms of my feet.

VETIVER

If you haven’t tried Vetiver yet, you neeeeed to. This oil is so calming and grounding, which makes it a great oil to have in your arsenal for sleep support! Its earthy, warm, woodsy scent is so peaceful and relaxing. Add to your diffuser at night or apply a drop to your wrists. You’ll quickly fall in love with this one!

FRANKINCENSE

Our favorite boyfriend—FRANK! Goodness, what can this oil NOT do?! This oil is earthy and uplifting, helpful to enlighten negative thoughts and feelings and clearing the mind before bed. Cause let’s face it, we’ve all had those nights where we can’t seem to shut our brains off, right?! Add this beauty to your diffuser or use it topically. Use it in your favorite sleepy time roller blend. It’s so good!

ROMAN & GERMAN CHAMOMILE

We all know chamomile is calming, right?! We have access to two different types of chamomile thanks to Young Living. They actually come from two completely different plants, making their chemistry and scents somewhat different, although sharing much of the same properties.

Roman chamomile is soothing and calming, and German chamomile promotes feelings of peace and relaxation. They are both great oils to add to your bedtime routine. Use a drop with some carrier oil and put on your feet, or add to the diffuser for its sweet and warm scent as you drift off to sleep.

VALERIAN

I wasn’t sure what to do with this beauty when I first got it, and quickly realized how wonderful it is to use for sweet support! I honestly think it smells like melting butter (and who doesn’t really love that, come on!). It is calming and grounding, and is a great oil to use particularly to support restlessness. When you have trouble falling asleep or keep waking up in the night, this is a great oil to reach for!

PEACE & CALMING

This is one of our FAVS! It's like a magical unicorn oil!
Peace & Calming and Peace & Calming II are both such great oils.
The beauty is in the name—who doesn’t want that when they are going to bed at the end of the day?
Diffuse it before bedtime to create that quiet and relaxing atmosphere before putting the kiddos to bed or to help unwind at the end of a long day.

Tell me all the things! Favorite use or story with Peace and Calming?!

TRANQUIL

This roller is one of my nighttime favorites! It already comes in a perfect roll-on blend to put right on the bottoms of your feet or on your wrists and back of neck at night. It combines lavender, cedarwood, and roman chamomile. I love to put this on the bottoms of my feet as I start my nighttime routine—you know, washing my face, brushing my teeth, etc. Its warm, soothing scent brings all the relaxing vibes that I’m looking for as I get ready to head to bed!

SLEEPYIZE

Y’all need this oil, especially if you have kiddos! It is so relaxing and peaceful, and it already comes with carrier oil in the bottle as part of the Kidscents line—perfectly formulated for use on littles (although adults like it too!). Roll on the bottoms of their little feet before bed, or down their spine.

This one is currently out of stock, but you can get it as part of the Reconnect kit (and some other amazing oils as well!).

DREAM CATCHER

This oil has quickly become one of my new favorites! It is so supportive of our emotions and positive feelings, and I love to use it before I go to bed as I clear my mind of all my swirling thoughts and list of to dos that threaten to keep me awake far longer than I want to be. It smells so dreamy and is so peaceful and relaxing!

DREAM ROLLER

This is a new roller blend that I made recently. You will be OBSESSED!

I joke its like a magical rainbow cried tears and I put them in this roller!

We’ve been using it every night before bed. We roll it on the bottoms of our feet or down our spine and it truly is an absolute dream!

I do 10 drops dream catcher, 10 drops white angelica, and 10 drops of orange. Fill the rest with carrier oil. You’re seriously going to love it!

SLEEP TIME ROLLER

This is one of my favorite nighttime roller blends that I’ve made for myself—it lives on my nightstand! I put it on my wrists, shoulders, and back of my neck every night as I hop into bed. Can’t imagine not using this is part of my sleep routine!

I do 10 drops cedarwood, 10 drops orange, 10 drops lavender, and 10 drops vetiver, and fill the rest with carrier oil. It is seriously the best!!!

DIFFUSER BLENDS

One of our favorite ways to get extra sleep support at night is by diffusing our oils! It’s great to start with a calming blend in the evening as the kiddos are getting ready to settle down. Sometimes I’ll have the diffuser going as they are finishing playing, or in their bedrooms to create that peaceful atmosphere before bed. We also love to diffuse overnight as we sleep. It is such a wonderful support to our sleep.

Here are some of our favorite diffuser blends:

+ Cedarwood and orange

+ Peace & Calming (I or II) and orange

+ Gentle Baby and lavender

+ Dream Catcher

+ Roman Chamomile and frankincense

+ Vetiver and northern lights black spruce

SLEEPY CREAM

As I’m getting ready for bed in the evening and going through all my normal sleepy-time routines, I love to use this homemade body butter that I have made filled with so many wonderful sleep supporting oils. Sometimes I’ll just put some on the bottoms of my feet, sometimes I use it to moisturize my whole body (especially in dry winter air) and love that not only am I nourishing my skin, but I’m also covering my body in oils that will give me the best support as I head to bed!

Here is how I make mine—equal parts coconut oil (the kind that is solid at room temperature), shea butter, and cocoa butter. I usually end up doing about a third of cup of each. Stick all the ingredients into your stand mixer or in a bowl that you can use with your hand mixer, and begin to whip together. I always add my oils at the end (15-20 drops of each) and then let it whip together a couple more seconds. One of my favorite combos for sleepy cream is lavender, orange, peace & calming, and white angelica, although the possibilities are truly endless of what oils you can put in!

BABY BUTTER

This whipped baby butter is one of our favorites to use with our kiddos!
It is so gentle and nourishing to their skin, and with Gentle Baby in it, it is also so soothing and relaxing. I love to put this on my kiddos feet at night or use on them after they get out of the bath.
It is seriously such a dream, and I love knowing that every ingredient going onto their skin is so natural and pure. Plus, it is super easy to make!
HEAVENLY! ( see next photo for more!)

LINEN SPRAY

This is one of my favorite DIY recipes that is so easy to make and such a wonderful addition to your home. Truly, you can use it as a general room spray to freshen up any space in your house, but one of my favorite things to do is make linen spray to spray on my sheets and pillows right before bed. I use distilled water and add a few drops of lavender—and there you have it! Shake it really well, and spray it on your sheets and pillows before hopping into bed. You can even spray in on your kiddos favorite stuffed animals or blankies, or even place a drop of oil directly on your pillow! I love when I climb into bed that it smells faintly like lavender. It’s so dreamy, and truly you could use whatever oils you want!

SLEEPESSENCE

Do y’all know that Young Living has this great supplement that they offer for sleep support? It contains four essential oils that enhance our sleep—lavender, vetiver, valerian, and ruta graveolens, as well as melatonin, a natural and well known sleep aid. This is a wonderful natural supplement to enable a full night’s rest!

RELAXING ROUTINES

There are so many wonderful oils and DIYs that we can incorporate into our sleep-time routine for all the wonderful support, but making time for some other relaxing bedtime rituals can not only help us wind down at the end of the day, but make us even more ready for a restful night of sleep.

Here are some of my favorite relaxing routines:

+ Take a hot epsom salt bath with some of your favorite sleepy-time oils. Not only are baths extremely relaxing, but it will help the tension flow out of you, relax your muscles, and give you the benefit of these calming oils as you take a bath!

+ Take a hot shower right before bed! For some, getting nice and toasty and feeling fresh and clean really makes a difference before hopping into bed. Use Young Living’s lavender oatmeal soap to soothe you skin, the evening peace shower gel, or get the shower gel base that allows you to add your own oils and make any combo you want! I love to do this—and am always doing this, and love to make a custom body wash blend with lavender and peace & calming.

+ Use the Relaxation Massage oil before hopping into bed. Rub into sore muscles or just all over to support your skin as well as promote calming and relaxing before bed. And bonus points if you can get your hubby to give you a massage before bed!

Do you have any other favorite bedtime rituals that you love that helps you calm down and unwind before going to sleep?

The following from a proud Mama:

These are my 4 precious angels!

For me, mama to 4 littles, a good bedtime routine for us is SUPER important! Some insight into what this looks like for us!!

1. a routine.
same bedtime every night!

first up, a calming bath with bath salts. I also love a mellow playlist going while they are in there.

once out of the bath, they put on their jammies and I rub their little backs and legs with YL kidscents lotion and then roll the "dream" roller on their feet and down their spines.

2. One drop of SleepIze on their chests.

3. Fill up all of their diffusers with Peace&Calming or Lavender!

Did you know YL has the cutestttttt kids diffusers? We LOVE the dino one!

4. we loveeeee having a box fan going, a sound machine, soft twinkle lights in each of their rooms....all of this really sets the tone to a relaxing, peaceful atmosphere!

5. DIY pillow spray! gently spray pillows, crib sheets, blankets....if holding a baby, i like to gently mist myself!

Even my kiddos "lovies" get a spray at bedtime!

Okay, lets hear it! What are your favorites at bedtime for your littles??

THANK YOU!
