8 reasons you should be using Vetiver

When it’s time to unwind after a long day, or if you need to buckle down for a project in a relaxing environment, look no further than Vetiver essential oil. Vetiver oil provides a sweet, woody aroma that can be applied topically or diffused to help create warm, welcoming spaces. The uses of Vetiver oil are numerous, from providing the perfect grounding scent for a decompressing massage to creating the ideal fragrance for soaps and perfumes. Find out more about the vetiver plant, as well as some key Vetiver oil benefits, and if you decide you need to give yourself a mid-blog Vetiver oil hand massage, we’ll understand.

1. From the earth

The vetiver plant is a perennial grass native to tropical regions in Asia. Vetiver is a fragrant grass with long stems and flowers, but Vetiver essential oil is derived from the root of the plant. Vetiver roots can grow 7–10 feet long, and their deep, tangled webs help make the plant tolerant against drought and protect against soil erosion.

2. Into the bottle

Vetiver oil is steam distilled from the root of the vetiver plant. It produces a warm, woodsy scent that’s slightly sweet and earthy.

3. For men

The woody, earthy scent has been used for its fragrance for centuries, and a popular use of Vetiver is adding a warm aroma to men’s soaps and colognes. You can create a personalized scent by adding Vetiver essential oil as a base note for a masculine DIY perfume.

4. Study scent

Let Vetiver’s complex and uplifting aroma help calm your mind so you can focus on the tasks that require the utmost attention. Perfect for study, difficult work tasks, or even curling up with a long novel, Vetiver essential oil’s fragrance creates a relaxing atmosphere where distractions lose their sway.

5. Thicker than Thieves®

Vetiver oil is known for its viscosity. Incredibly thick, it can sometimes be slow to flow from the bottle, but patience is a virtue, and there’s nothing wrong with your oil! Because Vetiver essential oil is so thick, we recommend adding it to a carrier oil before you put it in your diffuser.

6. In the tub

Relax from head to toe with a warm bath, aided by the calming aroma of 15–20 drops of Vetiver oil added to your evening soak. If you want to dim the lights and hit play on your favorite chill-out tunes, that’s between you and the Vetiver.

7. On your body

Combine a few drops of Vetiver essential oil with V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex for use in massage. All those unused “free foot rub” coupons that your significant other gave you last Valentine’s Day? You won’t regret putting them to use in an experience that can be deeply calming and moisturizing.

8. At home

Create a blend for your family that is warm and relaxing. Use 3 drops of Vetiver essential oil, 5 drops of Lavender, and 2 drops of Ylang Ylang in your diffuser to set the stage for nights in playing board games, reading, or just getting through homework and chores in a calmer atmosphere.

Post 1: WELCOME

Hello, friends!! Welcome to our class on all things OILS + TRAVEL! I love to travel and I love to travel with my oils --- you wouldn't catch me without them! No matter where you're headed you want to be well + have fun! And it's no fun to not be well, especially when we're out of our homes and comfort zones.

Today/Tonight we will cover everything from immune support before you head off on your trip, resting easy after a day in the sun, soothing sore muscles from a long hike and more!

I'd love to know a little bit about you! Where are you tuning in from today/tonight and what's your favorite travel destination?

Post 2: BEFORE YOU GO

Maybe sometimes home life feels a little bit cray when trying to get ready for vacation? Amiright or amiright? Did I forget something? Do I have all my kids? Who will get the mail and water the plants?
You guys: have you heard about the physical affects of stress on the body? I thought so. Nobody wants that, especially before traveling!

Before heading off on our vacation, our immune system needs support! If you aren't doing it daily already before vacation is the perfect time to start: Use Thieves daily! In our home we love to make a roller with ten drops thieves + a carrier oil (10 ml roller). We roll this onto our spines and bottoms of our feet daily.

Another gem for supporting our immune systems? Inner Defense! I take 1-3 capsules daily.
Young Living's Inner Defense liquid soft gels reinforce systemic defenses, promote healthy respiratory function, and are rich in immune-supporting ingredients, like the Thieves essential oils blend and Oregano, Thyme, and Lemongrass. Take 1 capsule daily in a.m. or take 1 capsule 3 times daily if more support is needed.

Don’t forget about our go-to favorite: Stress Away! Roll it on, diffuse it, wear it like perfume, bathe in in - wait wut? I mean, a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.

Post 3: PLANES, TRAINS, AUTOMOBILES.

No matter the way you’re getting there: you want to feel at your best!

+Give your car a deep cleaning before piling in -- Thieves cleaner will do the trick!

+USB diffuser: powered by a USB or a car cigarette lighter adapter, the pocket sized diffuser is the perfect way to enjoy the relaxing aroma of your favorite oil while you drive!

+AromaEase -- keep the car vibe positive! This is one of our favorites to have handy for long trips behind the wheel! It contains Peppermint, Spearmint and Ginger.

+Thieves Wipes -- from a dusty dashboard to a dropped sandwich, you never know what messes will happen! Be ready with our favorite wipes!

+Keep a pack of Organic Dried Wolfberries so you can have some healthy snacks in reach!

+Ningxia Nitro: Instead of soda or other sugary drinks: stay hydrated with water, and give yourself a pick-me-up when needed with our favorite, Ningxia Nitro!

No matter the way you’re traveling: the movement of that vehicle may not be making you feel your best. A little up and down, twists and turns, or too much turbulence for your liking? Pack your Peppermint essential oil, people! Don’t forget it! The aroma can be both soothing and invigorating, and a drop a carrier oil will give you a cooling sensation that you need before having to look for a brown paper bag.

A drop of Vitality Peppermint essential oil to your water or in a vegetable capsule may help soothe your digestive system.

Post 4: TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

This is a question that gets asked a lot, especially when flying: “Can you take your oils along safely with you when you’re traveling?”

You sure can! And you should!

There are many options to purchase essential oil carrying cases on etsy, amazon, etc! You can find some that hold up to 30 bottles or more! Quick tip: Don’t throw away all of your old bottles. You could fill up an old 15-ml bottle with v-6 or the carrier of your choice so you have it in it’s pocket-sized form!

If you’re flying: Just make sure that all of your products are travel size or transferred into travel size containers per TSA requirements.

Don’t forget to snag one of YL’s Bon Voyage Travel Kits before heading out!! It includes:

Thieves® AromaBright Toothpaste, 60ml.
Thieves Waterless Hand Purifier, 29.5ml.
Thieves Dental Floss
Thieves Fresh Essence Plus Mouthwash, 60ml.
Young Living branded Toothbrush
Lavender Shampoo, 60ml.
Lavender Conditioner, 60ml.
Cinnamint Lip Balm
Morning Start™ Bath & Shower Gel, 60ml.
Genesis™ Hand & Body Lotion, 60ml.

Post 5: DIFFUSING WHILE AWAY

Purification is one of the first oils I pack up when about to travel. Y’all know the feeling you get when you’re in a place that’s not your own? A rental or house or especially a hotel room?

#purification.

Here are some of our other favorites for take control of the scent situation: rosemary, citronella, lemongrass & tea tree.

Travelling with your diffuser isn’t hard and I always seem to find a way to pack that thing in there. Even if I’m a carry-on girl that trip, and I’m almost always a carry-on girl. If you simply cannot fit one more thing: at least pack an empty glass spray bottle. You can fill it with water, a pinch of salt, and as many drops of Purification as you need (I use about 15 in an 8 oz bottle) and spray away! The salt will help break up the oil. Spray away! Stink be gone.

Post 6: NINGXIA RED

If you haven’t hopped on the Ningxia train: now’s the time. This sweet and tangy drink’s formula includes wolfberry, which is touted for its health benefits. Also featuring plum, aronia, cherry, blueberry, and pomegranate juices and extracts, Young Living’s NingXia Red is packed with superfoods to support overall wellness.

In addition to these antioxidant ingredients, NingXiaRed’s formula includes pure vanilla extract and Lemon, Orange, Yuzu, and Tangerine essential oils for a great-tasting, healthy treat.

And don’t even worry about travel sizing your Ningxia, Young Living has already got you covered with their 2 oz packets! I drink two of these daily. One in the morning and one in the afternoon around 3 PM.

If you’re a carbonation lover: Grab yourself a Ningxia Zyng. Zyng uses the same whole-fruit wolfberry puree found in our popular superfruit supplement, NingXia Red, also adding sparkling water, pear and blackberry juices, and a hint of Lime and Black Pepper essential oils for a dynamic, unique taste. You’ll enjoy a refreshing boost that’s full of flavor without artificial flavors and preservatives.

With natural flavors and sweeteners, white tea extract, and added vitamins, NingXia Zyng delivers 35 mg of naturally occurring caffeine and only 35 calories per can, making it a sweet, guilt-free boost for your early morning, long afternoon, or anytime you need a little Zyng on your vacation!

Post 7: THIEVES

Vacations = People. People = Thieves, Please!

Thieves® essential oil is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils for an aromatic blend that fills any space with a rich, spicy aroma. Inspired by the legend of four 15th-century French thieves who formulated a special aromatic combination composed of clove, rosemary, and other botanicals used while robbing the dead and dying, Thieves is one of Young Living’s most popular products.

We don’t go a day without thieves in our house, we diffuse it daily, clean with it, and apply it diluted to the bottoms of our feet every day.

I also am never, ever without my Thieves Spray! Stick that bad boy in your purse and be ready to assess the situation. Quick and convenient, Thieves Spray is a portable essential oil spray ideal for cleaning small surfaces. Just one small spray freshens counters, sinks, door handles, toilets, and more using only naturally derived, plant-based ingredients and the powerful spicy-citrus scent of Thieves essential oil blend.

Post 8: SEASONAL SUPPORT

When we travel, especially far from home, we can experience different seasons, drastic temperature changes, and new things growing, blooming & blowing around. Be prepared for this! Our favorite roller blend for seasonal support is Lemon, Lavender & Peppermint. We make this in a 10 ML roller, ten drops of each EO and fill it the rest of the way with v6 - Young Living’s carrier oil blend.

Some of our other favorites for respiratory support are RC & Breathe Again. We never leave home without them!

Post 9: DIGESTIVE SUPPORT

Let’s get real here. Sometimes when we travel we eat a lot more than we normally do. Mkay? And sometimes we eat a lot of foods that we don’t normally eat or have never even tried before! Sometimes still, we’re on a rocking ship. AND SOMETIMES IT’S ALL THREE. Bless it.

Nobody wants digestive upset on vacay. Nobody. Here’s some of our go-tos that would never not be in our suitcase.

Digest + Cleanse soothes gastrointestinal upset and supports healthy digestion. Stress, overeating, and toxins can irritate the gastrointestinal system and cause cramps, gas, and nausea that interfere with the body's natural digestive and detox functions. Supplementing with Digest + Cleanse will soothe the bowel, prevent gas, and stimulate stomach secretions, thus aiding digestion. Digest + Cleanse is formulated with clinically proven and time-tested essential oils that work synergistically to help prevent occasional indigestion and abdominal pain. Precision Delivery softgels release in the intestines for optimal absorption and targeted relief and to help prevent aftertaste. This product can also be used in conjunction with any cleansing program, such as Young Living's 5-Day Nutritive Cleanse. Digest + Cleanse is part of the new Purely Oils line of premium essential oil supplements.

Use DiGize Vitality essential oil to help you enjoy each and every meal! This proprietary blend of Young Living essential oils is a great mealtime companion and addition to your wellness regimen. DiGize™ Vitality™ blends Tarragon, Ginger, Peppermint, Juniper, Fennel, Lemongrass, Anise, and Patchouli essential oils for a fresh-tasting blend—a perfect follow-up to any meal. Some cultures munch on fennel seeds after meals, and the use of this potent plant even dates back to ancient Egypt. Experience the power of Fennel Vitality and these other essential oils for yourself!
Take this best-selling essential oil blend with Essentialzymes-4™ or on its own before each meal to support your wellness regimen.* The versatility of DiGize Vitality oil means that you can take it in a gel capsule, mix it with water and Peppermint Vitality for a rejuvenating infused water, or combine it with honey for a sweet treat. For even more wellness support, take DiGize Vitality with Essentialzymes-4 at breakfast, lunch, and dinner for all-day support.

TummyGize is a relaxing, quieting blend that can be applied to little tummies. Containing Spearmint, Fennel, Ginger, and other digestive supporting oils.

Lastly, two must haves in wellness travel pack: Ginger + Peppermint!

Post 10: FUN IN THE SUN

I love me some sunshine, and I especially love me some vacation sunshine. It is so important to keep our skin healthy and not overdo it when it comes to sun-time. There are so many awesome oils for skin support but tonight I want to talk all about lavender. It’s a favorite for all areas of wellness, skin definitely being one of them!

LavaDerm™ Cooling Mist contains Lavender essential oil and aloe to soothe and rejuvenate overexposed skin. Spray topically onto desired area. Repeat every 10–15 minutes as needed.

Infused with Lavender essential oil and other plant-based ingredients, Lavender Hand & Body Lotion moisturizes and protects skin from overexposure for long-lasting hydration.

Lavender Lip Balm soothes dry lips, harnessing the power of Lavender essential oil and the moisturizing properties of jojoba oil and vitamin E.

Post 11: SOOTHE TIRED MUSCLES

Whether it’s a hike, kayaking, scuba diving or some other active adventure: you just mind find yourself with some tired muscles on your vacation. In order to get back into the swing of things the next day, feeling your best, don’t leave home without these favorites:

Young Living’s Cool Azul™ Pain Relief Cream provides cooling relief from minor muscle and joint aches, arthritis, strains, bruises, and sprains. Our plant-based formula combines the power of Wintergreen essential oil with our exclusive Cool Azul essential oil blend. With two powerful, synergistic active ingredients, this cream provides pain-relieving benefits in two ways: methyl salicylate found in Wintergreen helps alleviate pain deep in the muscles and joints, and natural menthol found in Peppermint provides a cooling effect. If you need relief without synthetic ingredients, Young Living’s Cool Azul Pain Relief Cream is the answer!

Young Living Deep Relief Roll-On makes essential oils such as Peppermint, Wintergreen, Dorado Azul, and Helichrysum convenient for a fast-paced lifestyle. This blend of popular oils is a great companion for your trips to the gym and busy daily routine.

Apply PanAway® after exercise or to the neck and back anytime for a soothing and stimulating aromatic experience.

Post 12: REST

It’s time to pull out the big guns for rest, you guys. I love a vacation jam packed full during the day and I also love to get some good shut-eye to do it all again the next day. Especially, maybe, when there’s seven of us in one hotel room. Jesus, take the wheel.

White Angelica™ contains pure Melissa and Bergamot essential oils, promotes feelings of protection and security when diffused, and can be used to guard against negative energy.

Young Living Tranquil Essential Oil Roll-On is the perfect way to invite a little Zen into your day. Tranquil essential oil combines the comforting aromas of Lavender, Cedarwood, and Roman Chamomile into a blend that is easy to apply and even easier to love. The Tranquil Roll-On applicator provides convenience and portability, and its proprietary essential oil combination offers a warm, slightly sweet fragrance. Just inhale deeply or roll onto your wrists to enjoy a moment of tranquility.

Peace & Calming essential oil is a gentle, sweet blend of Ylang Ylang, Orange, Tangerine, Patchouli, and Blue Tansy. This fragrant oil is a wonderful addition to your meditation, evening routine, or playtime with the kids. With a comforting, fresh aroma, Peace & Calming oil creates a relaxing environment that’s especially great for homes with children. You’ll love that you can use this oil for you children’s bedtime and then for yourself for a moment of quiet after the house has settled down.

Vetiver Essential Oil

VETIVER.

Copaiba Essential Oil: The Fireman

WE LOVE THIS OIL!

So let me introduce you to Copaiba: The Fireman.

He is ever on the alert, skilled, protective, strong. He goes quickly through the pathways of your cells seeking out the raging flames and pouring on the calming water of his many anti-inflammatory benefits.

Wherever there is "fire" or inflammation in your body, it is a signal of something going on. An arsonist at work (disease, stress) or a drought in your system that needs to be addressed (lack of nutrients).

This can also be the result of foods that you are eating such as refined sugar, modern grains, processed dairy, or other foods that don't work well with your body. Over time this compounds until you have fire raging everywhere and you are experiencing pain, digestive issues, skin eruptions, and brain dysfunctions. Eventually this leads to even more serious problems.

People often think that because they don't have digestive problems, they don't have gut inflammation issues. Not at all true. Gut inflammation shows itself as brain fog, pain in joints, emotional instability, and skin eruptions. It's ALL connected.

Eventually, if root issues aren't addressed, your body is spending all of its energy trying to function despite all the fire raging throughout your system.

Everything is burning and you are so busy dealing with the side effects of the fires, you can't ever get to the actual healing to keep the fires from happening.

You're taking medications to treat the pain, the meds increase the inflammation as your gut is damaged, thereby increasing the pain, leading to more medication for the pain…see the cycle?

We have to find a different way.

We have to find alternatives that can help us put out the fires, keep them out, and not do further damage to our systems. Truly quenching them is going to result in lasting relief and recovery. This will mean finding ways to reduce stress, to eat foods that nourish instead of harming us, and repairing the damage that has already been done to our poor guts.

And we need a hero. We need a Fireman.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

How do you use Copaiba?

- When working on gut health, Copaiba Vitality is most often taken in capsules, starting with a few drops per day until achieving desired results. It can also be drunk in a tea or taken in drops under the tongue. If you feel that your gut is inflamed and compromised, this can be a very simple way to start the process of bringing relief so that you can begin rebuilding the health of your system.

- Copaiba is also often used topically for any discomfort or in any situation that needs recovery. Using this instead of pain relief that causes damage to the gut can greatly increase your chances of being more comfortable AND bringing lasting healing to your body instead of further damage."

The BEST 100 Gathered Brisket Recipes For Your Gathering

"When you think of the Jewish holidays, there are certain dishes that people expect to see on the table: challah, chicken soup, kugal - and, of course, brisket. Brisket is a dish that may seem daunting, but is actually a very forgiving cut of meat to cook. The rules are simple: Get a good piece of meat from your butcher, season it, cover it with liquid or sauce, and cook a long time over low heat."  - My Jewish Learning

NOTE:  I share a link at the end with 5 tips that will get you started cooking brisket for the first time!

In traditional Jewish cooking, brisket is most often braised as a pot roast, especially as a holiday main course, usually served at Rosh HashanahPassover, and Sabbath. For reasons of economics and kashrut, it was historically one of the more popular cuts of beef among Ashkenazi Jews. Brisket is also the most popular cut for corned beef, which can be further spiced and smoked to make pastrami. The Jewish community in Montreal also makes Montreal-style smoked meat, a close relative of pastrami, from brisket.

There are so many wonderful recipes for brisket!

Here we go (take your pick!):
